This piece, which was manifest as a gallery installation, explores the relationship between digital information as represented in a computer’s graphical interface and the object in the physical world it supposedly represents. For this work, I duplicated in physical form all 5,000 or so e-mails on my computer, put them in envelopes and placed in their respective manila file folder as they were organized on my computer. I then asked visitors to the exhibition to take a letter and send it back to me through the physical mail service.
