Amanda Wasielewski (born October 11, 1984) is an American artist living and working in London, England. Having first come to London as a study abroad student at Goldsmiths College from 2005-2006, she returned to the US to finish her BA in Art History and Art Theory and Practice at Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois) and graduated in June 2007. After graduating she moved back to London where she is currently in her second year at University College London, Slade School of Art studying for an MA in Fine Art Media. Recent honors include selection of Supervision: Wawina, MN for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2009 exhibition and receiving the Chelsea Arts Club Special Projects Award. Most of Wasielewski's recent work revolves around the connections between technology and community in relation to an increasingly globalized, hypercapitalist world. Other interests include: maps and mapping, global capitalism, free trade and its effects on the global South, public housing/transportation/health care, and the history of technological hacking.
